The color drained from Jason's face.
He was cornered.
He scrambled to his feet, pointing a finger at me in a final, desperate act of defiance.

"It was her! She pushed me to it!"
"She's a control freak! She used her family's money and power to control every aspect of my life! I couldn't take it anymore!"
he shrieked, his voice cracking with hysteria.
"I love Chloe! But Emma wouldn't let me go! She threatened me with self-harm, with suicide!"
"This was all her plan! A sick, twisted game to ruin me, and to ruin Chloe!"
Chloe immediately dropped to her knees and began bowing her head to Ryan.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry, Ryan! Emma made me do it!"
"She said if I didn't go along with her act, she would... she would hire people to destroy my life! I'm just a normal girl with no power, what was I supposed to do? I was so scared!"
She wept hysterically, painting herself as the ultimate victim.
Just then, several police cars screeched to a halt at the scene.

The officer in charge saw Ryan and immediately straightened up.
"Mr. Cross. We received a dispatch from the command center about a violent incident at this location."
Ryan gestured to the two pathetic figures on the ground, his eyes like chips of ice.
"My sister's car has an emergency system. I have a full audio and video recording of the entire event."
He paused, his gaze falling on the still-sobbing Chloe.
"And I suggest you investigate that woman. I suspect she's guilty of repeatedly tampering with my sister's vehicle in a premeditated attempt to murder her."
The officer's expression became grim.
Faced with irrefutable audio evidence and the damning crime scene, Jason and Chloe were immediately taken into custody.
As the cold metal of the handcuffs snapped around his wrists, Jason finally seemed to realize this wasn't just a lovers' quarrel he could talk his way out of.
He began to struggle violently, screaming obscenities.
"You venomous bitch, Emma! I hope you rot in hell! I might be going to jail, but I'll make sure you suffer!"
Chloe went completely limp, half-carried by two female officers, muttering over and over,
"It wasn't me... it was just a joke... I didn't want to kill anyone..."
