Lily didn't have a terminal illness. After this was exposed, she panicked."Ethan,I just liked you so much that I wanted to marry you..."I pushed her away."Don't come to me again."
I never realize how cunning Lily was. She feigned weakness and vulnerability, which made me feel compelled to protect her.I thought of Ava again.

Ava often bore things silently that she shouldn't have had to endured. But in fact, she would be sad.Every time I thought she was annoying, her back would be very straight.
She was like a child who had done something wrong.
Ava was such a wonderful person, yet I pushed her away without a second thought. No,I had to get her back.I brought Ava back to our former home.
Ava was like a lifeless doll, completely unresponsive to anything around her. Whether I hugged her or talked to her,she wouldn't give me any response.
I didn't want this kind of Ava.I knelt down and begged her.It would be fine if she just said a few words to me.
I wouldn't look for Lily anymore.——On the day I brought Ava back,I grew suspicious and began to investigate the cause of her high fever.

As soon as I learned the truth,it delt like a punch to the gut.I couldn't even fathom what Lily and her friends had planned for Ava. If it weren't for Ava's resistance, I dread to think what would have happened.I found Lily.I made an appointment with her at a coffee shop.
She was impeccably made - up, wearing a flowing white dress, and walked with an air of elegance."Ethan, you finally"
I just showed her the chat records between her and her best friend and the deal between her best friend and those hooligans.Lily's face turned pale.
In fact, her acting was very clumsy. She was nothing like Ava.Even her face.

"Listen to my explanation,"she began, but I cut her off. I just looked at her indifferently."Lily, you know what needs to be done, don’t you?"
Her legs were shaking, and she collapsed onto the ground with a thud.Lily was an intelligent woman. She surely understood what I was implying.
"Do you think you really like Ava?You're a selfish bastard! You always love yourself the most!"
She,who always exuded refinement, rarely shouted.
I ignored her, shocked by her words.Did I really like Ava?
I was sure that I loved Ava.But which of the things I did didn't hurt her?A few days later, news reached me that Lily had gone missing.
Ava made her way to the overpass, intending to take her own life. I rushed there, only to find the bridge deserted.
Devastated, I called the police, who promptly dived into the water to search.
They conducted a search upstream and downstream, but all they found was Lily's body.Did she also choose to commit suicide here?
But they couldn't find Ava's body. And I couldn't prove my relationship with Ava as a relative or a friend because we had already broken up.When I returned home in a daze,I saw my parents.
"You ungrateful wretch!"My mother exclaimed, slapping me.She knew about my marriage with Ava."I know what you've done to Ava these days.
How could you possibly live up to Ava's parents?!"My mother's chest heaved violently, and she seemed extremely angry.
That very night, I was rocked by a revelation that left me in shock. It turned out that the brake failure had nothing to do with Ava's parents.
In fact, it was her parents who had saved mine. That day, originally,it was my parents who were going to drive that car with the brake failure.
Later,Uncle and Auntie, noticing that the car was a bit old, offered to take the wheel instead.
...I was plunged into a deep abyss of despair. What on earth had I said to Ava?And now Ava had also committed suicide. Our family owed hers so much that it could never be repaid.
I swallowed a large amount of sleeping pills, and I soon drifted into a dream.
In the dream,it was the moment when I had just confessed my love to Ava.
"Ava,I like you,"I murmured, stretching out my arms towards her.Ava smiled and passed me by as if she hadn't heard me. I reached out, desperate to grasp her, but all I felt was emptiness.
I knew death was near. Ava, wait for me. I'll join you on the journey across the River Styx soon.
