Chapter 50

"Seriously? Is that how you're going to talk to me?" I asked him.

"What did you expect? You expected a round of applause and a standing ovation for keeping my son from me all this time?"

"You don't have to be so mean. Where's the nice Jevan from high school?"

"He left."

He got up from the bench we were sharing and went to keep a closer eye on Jason.

After the day at the park, Jevan drove Jason and I home.

"Daddy, are you going to marry mommy?" Jaaon asked when we pulled up to the apartment.

"Jason.. your mom and I are just friends," Jevan answered poorly due to being caught off guard by the sudden prompt question by our  inquisitive son.

"So you're not marrying mommy?" Jason asked again.

"Jason, your father and I aren't a couple anymore but we still love you and he's still going to be your dad."

"But I want a real daddy," Jason pouted.

"I am your real daddy," Jevan told him.

"No you're not. You're not marrying mommy and you're not living with us. You're not my real daddy. You're just my daddy."

Jevan and I fell silent. There wasn't a thing we could have said to make it better and we couldn't lie to our son.

He wasn't the gullible type like most kids his age.

"Jason, believe it or not, most folks our age got very complicated lives. Your mom and I love you very much and we're going to be there for you no matter what. That's what matters right now. Okay?"

"Okay daddy."

Jason and I got out.

"Blossom, I've been waiting on you," a voice said behind me.

I turned and saw Hunter Sax.

Blossom's POV

"Hunter? What are you doing here?" I asked surprising. I wasn't expecting to see him.

"You're not happy to see me?" he asked back.

"I am."

By then, Jevan had left and Hunter, Jason and I were making our way indoors. I inserted my key into the lock, letting us inside.

Jason made a beeline for his bedroom and I flopped down on the couch. Hunter sat next to me, laying his hand on one side of my legs.

"Hey. Are you okay?" he asked me.

"I am. Just a bit exhausted."

"Oh really? From riding around with Jevan Hollen?" His question rang pure jealousy.

"Excuse me?"

"Are you with him? And please don't lie to me."

"Hunter, where are you getting at?"

"I don't want to be lead on, Blossom. Are you with him or not?"

"I'm not with Jevan. He's Jason's father!"

"Wait. What? How?"

"It happened seven years ago. Jevan and I were high school sweethearts back then. We were having sex, I got pregnant, I got deported, Jason was born, Jevan wasn't aware," I summarized.

"He wasn't aware he had gotten you pregnant?"

"No. And I don't blame him. I was keeping Jason a secret from him."

"And you were doing the right thing. Look, you don't need Jevan. I can take care of you and Jason all by myself. The Hollens are nothing but sharks. Jevan is going to want to take Jason away from you and let his fiancée be Jason's new mom."

"What? Jevan would never."

"Are you doubting me? I know Jevan. I've been around Jevan and his big ego. Just you wait."

I slumped. I couldn't believe my ears.

"I didn't get that vibe from him even when he found out that Jason is his son. He's not going to take Jason away from his mom," I said. I peeled myself off the couch and went to the fridge.

I poured myself a glass of orange juice and one for Hunter.

Before I could deliver it to him, he came up from behind, wrapping his arms around my waist and I welcomed the embrace.

His sweet scent enveloped me and his minty breath fanned the skin on my neck, making the hairs stand up. I felt the hard bulge in his pants as he pressed firmer from behind.

"Hunter. My kid is here and I'm sure he's not asleep as yet."

"I know. I just can't resist you. You're so exotic and sexy."

I laughed lightly. "I'm going to check on Jason. I'll be right back."

Hunter kissed my forehead before I left to Jason's room. I was right. Jason was wide awake, looking up at the glowing stars in the ceiling I stuck there.

"Hey baby. Are you okay?"

"Is Hunter going to be my real father, because he's the one who's here right now."

"Jason. Stop it. I really don't know where you're getting this from."

"I saw it on a cartoon."

"Not everything from a cartoon is accurate. Listen to mommy. Your father is going to provide for you, spoil you and give you everything you want. Most importantly, he's going to be there for you. That's what a real father would do. Okay?"

"Okay mommy. Can I call him?"

"Sure."

I took my cell phone from my pocket and called Jevan. He answered after the first ring.

"Hi. Is everything okay? Is Jason okay?"

"He's fine. He just wanted to speak with you."

I handed the phone to Jason and he started talking and laughing with his dad.

_____

"I'm back," I told Hunter. He was watching the television and sipping his orange juice.

"You know, I've been meaning to ask you this. Do you want to have a relationship with me?"

"Hunter... I... I... don't know. I mean, there's so much to you that I don't know and you and I never even been on a date."

"Then let's start dating and getting to know each other. I don't want to lose out on you or Jason. You two are becoming my world."

I smiled sweetly and started looking forward to going on dates with Hunter Sax.
